Blepharoplasty

"Blepharoplasty", the surgery name itself scares people and can be quite baffling to understand what the surgery actually means. In fact, blepharoplasty is divided into 2 parts : upper blepharoplasty (or upper eyelid surgery), and lower blepharoplasty (or lower eyelid surgery). In Korea, the key difference between blepharoplasty and other eyelid surgeries is that blepharoplasty is mainly performed for middle-aged people who hope to enhance their saggy eyelids and fat under eyes. The major purpose of the surgery is anti-aging and many customers combine blepharoplasty with other anti-aging surgeries like face-lift and eyebrow lift.

Blepharoplasty Cost

USD$2500-$4500 each: Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty surgery cost depends on doctor's expertise and surgery methods. In South Korea, eyelid surgery specialists in most popular clinics charge around that price range, but it could be lower if your anti-aging surgery plan involves other surgeries. Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty Surgery Recovery

The recovery process for upper blepharoplasty is similar to other upper eyelid surgeries. Since saggy skin and fat are removed from upper eyelids, it will take at least 2 weeks for the swelling and bruising to disappear. At this point, your eyes look reasonably natural but to look very natural in person, it will take about 3-6 months. Lower blepharoplasty surgery also requires similar recovery time but scars under eyes can rise as one of your concerns. Seoul TouchUp has learned that with an experienced plastic surgeon, scars are almost not noticeable after 3-6 months. It is also helpful to note that the thickness of your skin and the elasticity of your skin also can affect the speed of the healing process.

3. Lower Blepharoplasty Procedure

There are basically 2 types of lower blepharoplasty : inside and outside. For "Inside" lower blepharoplasty, incisions will be made inside of your lower eyelids, and for "outside" lower blepharoplasty, incisions will be made outside of your lower eyelids. If the degree of sagginess is minor, inside lower blepharoplasty could be performed. However, in most cases, outside excision is made below the lower eyelash, where skin, muscles and fat are selectively removed. Both techniques are performed to remove 80% of the underlying fat in the lower part of the eyelid.
