More Korean Actresses Plastic Surgery Before After Pictures – Those Who Have Admitted (Part One)

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

Yes! We've got more Korean Actresses plastic surgery before after pictures of Korean actresses who have admitted to surgery, for you!

But before that, I have some thoughts on the matter and maybe you have similar thoughts too.

Each day, as I browse through the internet, it’s becoming more and more obvious that the culture of Korean plastic surgery procedures is being shrouded with dubious ideas. A casual browse through google search engine (or whichever of your favorite search engine) and you’ll see it – news reports titled along the lines of, “Asian women are turning to plastic surgery to look more Caucasian”.

Why Asian Cosmetic Surgery has less to do with ‘Wanting To Look Caucasian’

Now, is this really true? Sure, double eyelid surgery is a very commonly done procedure, but is it right to say that Asians want to look Caucasian? People come to Seoul for “Gangnam plastic surgery” – you know, to get traits like double eyelids, bigger-looking eyes, clear and untanned skin. But, Asians who opt for surgery do not necessarily want to look Caucasian.

Why do I say that these news reports are exaggerating the matter?

Let’s see:

  • Some Asians are born with double lidded eyes, and some do not. It’s tempting to want what we don’t have, right? Who here hasn't gone through an Asian family gathering with grandma paying extra attention on that cousin of yours? You know, the special snowflake with double lidded eyes.
  • In the past, tanned skin can be an indicator of social class; think about the skin of farming communities versus wealthy families who did not have to be under the hot sun, caring for the crops.
  • Big eyes and smooth, clear skin indicates good health and youthfulness.

The thing is, double lidded, big eyes, clear and untanned skin are attractive due to the science and cultural significance. When I think about it, the sweeping statement, “These Asian people just want to look Caucasian!” is quite silly and is not true.

Kim Nam Joo -- maybe? Though, she did admit that she starves herself, to maintain her figure.

Park Chae-rim -- we're not too sure about her. She does look quite similar in this before and after shot.

Do you think these ladies look more Caucasian-like? I don’t think so.

5 Differences You Should Know About Incisional and Non-incisional Double Eyelid Surgery

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Asian Eye Surgery, Eye Lid Surgery, Korean Eyelid Surgery

double eyelid surgery

What is double eyelid surgery?

Double eyelid surgery, also known as Asian blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure whereby the skin around the eye is reshaped and an upper eyelid with a crease is formed. Two methods are commonly used: the incisional and non-incisional double eyelid surgery technique.

Differences between incisional and Non-incisional technique

        Incisional        Non-incisional
For people with mono lidded eyes or double lidded eyes that need more definition added to it. For people with mono lidded eyes.
Durable with permanent results, and only has to be done once. However, the procedure is irreversible. Also known as the suture technique, this procedure produces temporary-lasting results but is a reversible procedure.
Suitable for eyelids with a little fat and sagging present; able to tackle issues such as excess fat deposit, muscle and upper eyelid skin. Suitable for eyelids without fat and sagging; unable to tackle other issues regarding the anatomy of the eye.
More control to produce symmetrical, precise results. Higher likelihood of asymmetrical results.
Slow recovery time. Fast recovery time.

How Much Fun Can You Have After Your Plastic Surgery?

Written by Seoul TouchUp. Posted in Asian Plastic Surgery, Korean Plastic Surgery, Medical Tourism Korea

fun-korea-after-plastic-surgery

Plastic surgery is often an emotional and sometimes stressful journey, especially if it is you first time having it done. Many patients work themselves up into a frenzy with worry, only to later discover that there really wasn’t much to worry about and that they were in safe hands. It is at this moment that people decide to have fun when they leave the clinic and to try new things and show their body off to the world. However, while this is a great thing to do at some point after your procedure, depending on how serious it was, you may have to wait a few months before setting out on a new adventure.

Korea has many wonderful things to offer to its visitors, especially if you happen to be in Seoul. Everything from its delicious cuisine, to sightseeing and entertainment is on offer, and it can be tempting to want to see all of that while you are still in the country, but every doctors advice will likely be that you stay as calm as possible after your procedure in order to allow the incisions to heal at a steady pace. Having said that, although minor procedures will have no effect on your daily routine, if you have traveled all the way to Korea to have something done, it is a lot more likely that it was because of a more serious procedure. And in this case, you will need to take into account your current condition first, before you decide to become an active tourist.

THE MOST LIKELY ACTIVITIES THAT YOU WILL NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM FOR A WHILE

The first thing that you need to be careful about is to make sure that you are not putting any extra strain on your incisions. A few days is not enough for them to heal properly, so if you decide to undergo some serious physical exercise your could be jeopardizing the doctor’s work and it could mess with the way that your incisions will heal. This includes going to the gym, doing sports, and also spending a lot of time on your feet. There is a reason why major surgeries are always done in the colder months, and reason behind this is the fact that a colder temperature is better for your healing process. So when you do something that really heats up your body, you are also stretching and loosening the skin around the incision, which could make it heal in a different shape or become irritated. Your surgeon has spent a lot of time planning your plastic surgery in Korea, and you should follow their advice until you have recovered completely. Do not place yourself in this kind of situation, as it will be impossible to recover from the mistakes unless you want to go back to the clinic to have the incisions redone, which is certainly not something that anyone would want to go through without a good enough reason. Instead, choose light activities that do not include a lot of walking.

China Tourists Tops the Charts

It’s a bit of a shame when more than half of the country’s medical tourists are from China and yet there have been rising cases of the dissatisfied and dismayed. In 2013, more than 25,400 Chinese travelled to Seoul from China looking out to beautify themselves through Asia’s beauty haven with its cutting edge technology and preferred expertise. Some say it’s the appeal of Korean entertainment and music, with celebrities touting the next look, who could resist? Yet, among the district’s hundreds of clinics, not every single one of them is a safe bet. As much as advertisements around subways or buses have led you to believe, it’s a dangerous world in Gangnam street. Dangerous in the sense of there being too many options to choose from, leaving one to wonder who is really trustworthy? Advertisements boast beautiful jaws from jawline surgery and large, even eyes can be achieved in Seoul. Jaw surgery is no child’s play, with major complications extending all the way to permanent nerve damage. For those who had put less thought into it, it’s easy for them to be given the short end of the stick there.

CT Scan Reveals that So-young Park Had Surgery and What We Can Learn From It

Written by Seoul TouchUp. Posted in Asian Plastic Surgery, Korean Plastic Surgery, Korean Rhinoplasty, Plastic Surgery News

so-young-park-before-after-ct-scan4 TYPES OF ATTITUDES CELEBRITIES HAVE TOWARDS PLASTIC SURGERY

In the past, getting cosmetic surgery was taboo and only discussed through hushed whispers amongst celebrities, it was a secretive and hidden thing. These days it’s easy to see that many Korean and other Asian celebrities alike have gotten some kind of cosmetic surgery work. Sometimes, it’s straight out confessed, other times its revealed by external sources, and there are also those that have obviously gotten something done but would never admit to it. These are the four types of attitudes that many celebrities may have: the unashamed embracement, the reluctant confession, the “What have I done to myself?” and the “What surgery work? I was born like this.” Here are examples of the above:
