Augmenting the Breasts: Types of breast implants
In recent times, it is no surprising occurrence that many women are image-conscious. As much as men are biologically wired to do so, society and even the media portray and deem large breasts as a physically desirable trait – it is understandable then that young and old women alike are wanting to go under the knife.
However, as with any procedure that majorly alters the body, it is a personal decision and yours to make alone. Why do I say this? Consider the implications involved here; for the most part, it will be your body and well-being here. Breast augmentation is no small matter , however, understanding the pros and cons of breast augmentation through implants will certainly give peace of mind as well as to better prepare, both emotionally and psychologically for the procedure.
Types of Breast Implants
There are simply two types of breast implants; saline implants and silicone implants.
Saline implants – A sack of silicone rubber with a textured outer surface, implanted under the breast tissue and filled with sterile tissue. It achieves a more natural feel due to being placed in the sub-muscular position. The disadvantage to saline implants is its spontaneous leakage rate of 3% per implant, per annum.
Sillicone implants – A silicone filed implant that contains cohesive gel with non-runny consistency which holds it shape. The look and feel of a naturally firm, youthful breast can be achieved here. Leakage is virtually impossible with these implants, unlike saline implants.
Are Breast Implants dangerous?
Many controversial issues on plastic surgery have been swirling about since its beginning, and to add to its existing pile – a woman stabbed by husband is saved by breast implant, reports say. Plastic surgery has its risks, but there are risks involved in many other aspects of living as well.
All in all, breast augmentation is a personal decision - as it is your body that undergoes these changes. Due to past concerns raised among many Asian women on the advent of unbalanced proportions resulting from the procedure – it only makes sense to put your body in the hands of a knowledgeable practitioner who understands your needs, as an Asian woman of smaller stature.
South Korea serves as one of the hottest spots in Asia to head to for medical and beauty procedures – with good reason. Korean plastic surgery is world-renowned for their best practices, ranking number one in the number of plastic surgery procedures done in a year.
