The Basics of V-line Surgery in Korea

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Facial Bone Surgery

V-line Surgery in KoreaV-line surgery in Korea is one of the newest Facial Plastic Surgery trends, and is one of the many facial features that can be changed. Over the years, plastic surgery has developed into a very precise medical phenomenon, with many doctors now specializing for one specific type of surgery. This enables them to be experts in their field, and it also means that they are much more likely to provide patients with positive results.

What is V-line surgery?

It refers to the changes made to the patient’s jaw in order to make it more v-shaped. Specifically, this change is best noticed on the patient’s chin, because it gives it a more prominent v-shape than it had before. V-line surgery in Korea is different for each patient, because while the end result is to make a v-shape, each patient’s starting look is very different. Some people have broad or flat chins, long and short faces, facial asymmetries, and other features that are different for everyone. Because of this, the doctor must plan the procedure separately for each patient so that the correct changes can be made.

The procedure begins with a clean cut and removal of the bone. Once this is done, the surgeon begins safely narrowing the chin according to the previously defined instructions of the patient. This part of the procedure does not cause any damage to the facial nerves and is very safe. When the correct shape of the chin has been reached, the remaining portion of the mandible (jaw bone) is cut o the required length. The final step is to narrow the lower jaw, which gives the end v-line shape.

Who can do it?

Plastic surgeries in general can be done my adults, and also by minor if they have their parents’ consent to do so. For procedures like the V-line surgery in Korea, doctors often advise younger patients to wait until a certain age when their jaw is more or less developed, so that the chin will remain in its new shape for good. This type of surgery has many other benefits once completed. It can minimize the sagging of jaw lines and tighten the overall look of the face. It is fast becoming one of the more popular Korean Plastic Surgery procedures available, and is providing its patients with fantastic results.

Before undergoing the V-line surgery, there will likely be some pre-operative preparations that the doctor will require the patient to complete. It is in the patient’s best interest that these procedures are completed exactly to the doctor’s instructions, because the procedure is done under general anaesthesia. Patients usually notice great recoveries after a few weeks, while a full recovery can take up to two months. As with any facial plastic surgery, the patient will be asked to not participate in any sports activities for a while until everything has healed properly and is fixed in place. After that, the patient can enjoy a very comfortable life with their new facial feature.

The Reason Why Asian Jaw Plastic Surgery Is so Popular

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Facial Bone Surgery

asian jaw plastic surgeryAfter hearing about horrific incidents involving the death of patients after V-line surgery, you might be wondering then, who else wants double jaw surgery?

It’s a bit puzzling too, since not everyone has a deformity and therefore must need to correct their jawline. So, why do people do it?

The simplest answer is of course, that having a smaller jawline is attractive in women. As it has been reported, pretty women ‘have more oestrogen’. According to the study, the attractive female face is one that has large eyes, a large forehead, a small jaw and full lips – and attractive female faces tend to have higher levels of the sex hormone, oestrogen.

Men and women find neotenous features to be attractive in a woman. Neoteneous features are what you call, baby-like features such as big, round eyes and a small chin. This is one of the reasons why Asian jaw plastic surgery and double eyelid surgery are so popular. Having a youthful look has its advantages, while low neoteny faces tend to be judged as “intimidating”. All in all, neotenous faces aka baby-like faces are perceived as both being “feminine” and “sociable”. Now, this makes sense. Who wouldn’t want to appear approachable?

The other main reason for the popularity of Asian jaw surgery, is due to the fact that Seoul has earned a reputation as Asia’s top destination for getting plastic surgery. With some of the best plastic surgeons in Korea, where else would you want to be cosmetically enhanced?

Leave a comment below, we’d love to hear your opinion!

What the statistics on Korean plastic surgery show us now is that, more Chinese than Americans are visiting Seoul for medical travel related matters. A total of 32,503 Chinese visitors had entered South Korea in 2012, but this is not to say that they had extreme plastic surgery make-overs.

Before you decide on getting any extreme procedures such as jaw surgery done in Korea, you might want to consider this fact: even though South Korea is #1 in having the most procedures done, plastic surgery statistics show that it is not extreme plastic surgery but hair and skin procedures that were the most commonly requested.

If you’re thinking about getting jaw plastic surgery in Korea, also known as V-line jaw surgery, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you mentally prepared for this procedure?
  • Do you need this or want this? Some people are in need of corrective jaw surgery, but not everyone needs it for medical reasons.
  • Are you physically well enough to go through with this procedure? Ask your doctor first.

Finally. there have been cases where patients have suffered severe injuries such as nerve damage, or even lost their lives. In a recent case, the police had probe into patient death after cosmetic surgery, these kind of things happen. Therefore, it is not just how reputable or famous a clinic is, that matters, but it is advisable to always seek out experienced, ethical and board-certified surgeons.

Understanding Facial Cosmetic Surgery

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Facial Bone Surgery

facial cosmetic surgeryFacial expressions are very important when it comes to communication and interaction with others. Your appearance has a great impact on how you are perceived by others. Some people would like to change certain features on their faces. Facial abnormalities like cleft lip, birthmarks and birth defects are very common, this is why many people desire to have them corrected. Korean plastic surgery is widespread because most people believe that having a perfect face is the key to success. Cosmetic surgery in Korea is considered a practical solution as far as aesthetic beauty is concerned. Most effects of sun damage, facial trauma and aging are noticeable on the face, luckily most of these defects can be corrected by undergoing facial plastic surgery.

Why consider this surgery?

Otolaryngologists identify and correct many abnormalities involving the entire face, neck, lips, ears and nose. Facial cosmetic surgery is an element of otolaryngology that may be subdivided into cosmetic and reconstructive categories. Reconstructive surgery is performed on people with conditions that are in born. These include cleft lip, protruding ears, crooked smile and facial birthmarks. Other conditions caused by burns, trauma and accidents are also rectified with this form of surgery. Additionally, reconstructive procedure is also necessary for treating existing conditions such as skin cancer and others.

Cosmetic facial surgery is done to enhance the appearance of certain features and facial structures. Eyelifts, liposuction, facelifts, rhinoplasty and cheek implants are some of the common procedures. The results after these procedures are impressive especially if performed with a well trained and experienced otolaryngologist surgeon. For instance, cheek implants before and after photos can provide proof of what cosmetic surgery can do.

What you ought to know before going for facial cosmetic surgery?

Your surgeon ought to discuss in detail the risks, alternatives, recovery and benefits of the procedure with you. You will be more relaxed and contended when you have all the details at hand. You should find out the number of procedures that the surgeon has carried out and if they were successful. Moreover, you must know what kind of preparation is necessary and the number of hours the surgery will take. Advice on the medications that should be avoided before surgery is also very important.

Risks may include: blood clots, numbness, nausea, infections, anesthesia reactions and bleeding. Furthermore, you should avoid smoking approximately 2 weeks before the surgery for quick healing.

Understanding the cost to be incurred and payment options prior to undergoing the procedure is crucial. Insurance usually covers reconstructive surgery but you should confirm with your insurer. If you will cater for all the expense then find out the payment options available.

Examples of procedures involved:

Blepharoplasty-surgery to the eyelids to enhance the eyes appearance

Rhinoplasty- surgery of the nose which involves restructuring to enhance the function and appearance of the nose

Face contouring surgery- the procedure is done to correct uneven facial structure and improve a person's overall appearance with distinctive features.

Brownlift-surgery to correct droopy eyebrows and forehead wrinkles

Facial reconstruction- to reconstruct facial skin defects due to injury, prior surgery or disease.

Recovery

You may not be required to stay for long in the hospital but this depends with the extent of the facial cosmetic surgery. Some procedures are done on outpatient basis while others require you to stay in the hospital for one or two days. However, your surgeon will advice you on how to treat the incision area, medications to avoid, restricted activities and special diet to follow. By following these instructions, you will have a quick recovery.

Filling you in on: Cheek Implants Before and After the Procedure

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Facial Bone Surgery

What are Cheek implants?

Cheek implants are a form of facial implants, done through a procedure called cheek augmentation or better known as cheek bone surgery. Many people have considered fuller cheeks on a person to be much more attractive. For one thing, it rids one of having a gaunt, aged look as well as that of being somewhat unhealthily mal-nourished. With cheek implants, the result will be the appearance of strong, sturdy cheek bones and a fresh, healthier-looking face. Certainly, having prominent cheek bones to pair off with a dazzling, confident smile is now possible.

What should I know about cheek implants before and after the procedure?

Before After
Have realistic expectations: Sensation to the cheeks may be temporarily or permanently changed by the implants. This might be a matter of concern to you, take caution. Often there will be no scarring involved, through the intra-oral approach. There might be external scarring present through an eyelid approach, however; at the eyelid margin. Not to worry, as scars in this location are often hard to identify.
Psychological preparation: The procedure is performed under sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia; depending on your personal preference as well as on the technique utilized. That said, even with anesthesia - pain is to be expected, after the procedure itself. An increased volume from the cheek implant causes a feeling of “tightness”, and it will worsen right after the surgery due to the body’s natural swelling response.

There will be a period of “tightness” through an increased volume from the cheek implant – this sensation is normally worsened after surgery due to the body’s normal swelling response.

Practical preparations: If done through intra-oral approach, a soft diet is definitely recommended till your gums have healed.Maintain light activities and keep your head elevated to resolve the swelling as soon as possible.

Are cheek implants for me?

For many people with wide cheek bones, this does not mean that they have prominent cheek bones. Neither is it the case for Asians with high cheek bones, this does not necessarily equate to having stronger-looking cheek bones.
Besides filling you in on the things to consider before undergoing cheekbone surgery, ultimately, the decision is yours.
Korean plastic surgery is well-regarded by many, and the fact of the matter is – lots of Korean celebrities are such alluring eye-candies that one cannot help but be suspect of the matter; are their looks created through the work of god or of men? Even better, however, perhaps through the hands of men and the work of god.
