Usually people spend about 2-5 days in the hospital after lap/gastric band surgery. You'll have some annoying side effects for a few weeks afterwards, so I'd suggest giving yourself a few more days to rest after leaving the hospital so that you can return to work after the surgical pains and major side effects subside.

You'd better have the surgery during vacations so you have more time to rest and recover.

I think gastric band surgery is a major surgery. You'll probably need more time for recovery.
