What do you mean cold helps with swelling?

Cold makes swelling go down, which is why they tell you to ice your ankle if you sprain it for example. But unless you are going to be outside a lot it probably won't make a huge difference. It might help the swelling go down a bit faster overall but I think the timing is more to do with the timing of breaks, as Nanawo originally said. Might also be that people are less likely to want to go outside when it's cold than during the summer - it would suck to not be able to play with your friends when the weather is nice but when it's cold you want to stay inside anyway, and since most people don't want to be walking around with a swollen face that could also contribute?? But this is all conjecture tbh
