Recently I've been considering a calf reduction surgery to go along with my other procedures (really I'm just looking at all the options, since I'm a long ways from getting anything done right now). But I was wondering if removing some of the muscle would have a significant effect on calf strength? I'm a ballet dancer so I do a lot of standing on my toes, which makes me wonder if getting the surgery would be worth it. Even if it doesn't reduce my strength, the muscle would probably come back as I dance, right?

That's kind of my question . . . From what I researched you can remove or sever the nerves for one of the muscles in your calf and the other muscles just pick up the slack, but that information is for the general public who aren't doing things that require a lot of calf strength.
