Rhinoplasty - materials | Plastic Surgery Procedures | Forum

Rhinoplasty is a very complicated procedure - and it´s very important to choose a suitable material for a natural looking bridge.
Silicone was used for a very long time, but there are often reports about infection, shifting and other negative things.
Lately, the using of rib cartilage is becoming more popular, but I am still not sure about this procedure, because many say that rib cartilage tends to warp with the time, and a crooked bridge is surely not attractive....
What´s the best material for a nose job, the first one and eventual for revision?
I am looking forward for various opinions!

Silicone is the safest implant (next your own bone) for your nose. Most Korean plastic surgeons will use silicone and ear cartilage. Rib Cartilage & Goretax have been around for a quite long time, and in our opinion, it is mere marketing. To survive in extremely competitive plastic surgery market in Korea, Korean plastic surgeons also need to differentiate themselves by using different materials. Unless it's an extraordinary case, we recommend silicone + ear cartilage to customers.

What do you mean with bone? ^^ Isn´t it way harder than cartilage and dermis fat?
So based on your answer silicone is the most recommended, but don´t you have to change it every 10 years?
Is there a method to test if you are suitable for silicone or not? I mean undergoing a test to see if you´re prone to infection because of silicone?
Can you tell me more about the DC-f method? Some surgeons uses diced cartilage wrapped in fascia in order to replace silicone for bridge augmentation. Actually I´ve heard that Dr. Park Yang Soo performs this kind of rhinoplasty to achieve a very natural look. ^^

Dear SeoulTouchUp!
I know that silicone is used for nearly 90% for all asian rhinoplasty, but I am very afraid of the complications, including shifting, infection. There is also the rumor that it has to be removed after a certain amount of time.
Will the nose really be "natural" touch, breathing etc. Can you push your nose?
If you don´t mind please make a short introduction about silicone. ^^
Thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely
