Hi, I have high cheekbones that seem to stick out a little. They make me look severe. I am worried cheekbone reduction will give me a flat face. Has anyone had this procedure, and if so what was your experience?

What I've noticed about cheek bone reduction (zygomatic reduction) is that the middle of the face generally appears narrower after the procedure. As what Cindy said, removal of the zygoma makes the face appear more shallow/softer looker as well as less wide.

I think it depends on your face. For people who have pointed nose, and a side view that is not flat, it doesn't matter if you have cheekbone reduction but if you face is flat already with a lot of cheekbone, then you have to other surgery if you don't want it to remain flat

This question might be better asked in the Plastic Surgery Procedures but to answer the question - because you are reducing the angles in your face, there is a chance it could make your face look flat. The chance of this will be smaller if you communicate exactly what you want to your surgeon and make sure you like the way your after pictures look before going into surgery. If your face is already flat except for your cheekbones, you might consider getting other surgeries (jaw surgery, rhinoplasty, or face contouring, for example) to reduce the flatness
