How Plastic Surgeries Are Planned By Your Doctor

Written by Seoul TouchUp. Posted in Asian Eye Surgery, Korean Breast Surgery, Korean Plastic Surgery

Patients often spend a very long time planning their own surgeries, in the sense that they try to pick the best possible clinic, the best doctor, and the best procedure for their needs. But they often find that the story can change quite a lot once they enter their consultation appointment with their surgeon. Surgeons have a very different way of looking at your procedure of course, and it is worth mentioning that understanding their point of view can really help you to understand what is going on and what you can do to improve your plastic surgery experience.

HOW YOUR BODY IS EXAMINED BEFORE SURGERY

A healthy body is very important for the surgery to go well. Although some procedures do not require a particularly high level of health, more serious procedures have a very complex recovery period, and your body needs to be prepared to handle the healing process. Having this is mind, the current health and overall state of your body is the first thing that your surgeon will examine before even booking your plastic surgery date.

healthy-body-important-plastic-surgery5

You should be prepared to provide a blood sample and perhaps also a urine sample at the start of your check up. These results can give the surgeon exceptionally detailed information about your body, including your blood’s coagulation period, which measures the time it takes for your body stop the bleeding and begin to heal wounds. Although most people pass this initial phase without any problems, if you happen to get really bad results you will likely be refused for surgery at this time, until you get better. If this does happen, take your doctor’s advice very seriously and do not push to have any surgery done if the surgeon doesn’t feel that you can handle it.

There are also additional checkups that may be made, such as the current state of your respiratory organs and skin, including anything else that may have a negative effect on your body both during and after the surgery. It doesn’t take long to finish with this stage, but it is essential to ensure your safety.

HOW A SURGEON PLANS WHERE THE INCISIONS WILL BE MADE

The plan of the incisions is based on how well they will allow the surgeon to access an area inside your body, how they will change the look and feel of your skin, and how visible they will be once they heal. Although not all three of these requirements are needed for each procedure, they are part of the standard surgery plan and will be thought out in as much detail as possible. You may have also noticed that doctors often draw directly on the patient’s body during the consultation period and right before the surgery. This is a great method to allow the surgeon to have a visual representation on how the incisions will look and how big they need to be. This is especially true for procedures like Korean breast implants, which vary greatly according to the shape of the breasts and the size of the implant that will be inserted. It takes quite a bit of time and preparation to do all this, because incisions are very serious things to do on a person’s body, so a really great surgeon will make sure to plan them out in as much detail as possible.

HOW A SURGEON KNOWS WHICH PROCEDURE IS THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU

Patients often have the feeling that they have an abundance of procedures to choose from when they get an idea for a new look. However, the truth is that each procedure is conducted differently for each patient, and there may even be procedures that will either not be advisable for you personally, or that will not give you the results that you were hoping for.

The final decision depends on what your body looks like before the procedure has been done, because you may not need to undergo a complex procedure in order to get small changes made. So for example, if you wanted to change the shape of your nose and you think that you need to have a full nose surgery, your doctor may feel that all you really need is a nostril reduction in order to achieve it. Surgeons have a lot of experience behind them, and they can envision the final outcome of a procedure much better than a patient can.

Your doctor may also spend some time checking your skin and your bone structure in that particular area, so that they can get a sense of how much work needs to be done in order to achieve the final look. The more effort that a surgeon puts into familiarizing themselves with the current mental state of your body, the more likely they will be to prepare for the procedure accordingly, which will be great for both of you.

HOW SURGEONS IN KOREA PLAN DIFFERENTLY FROM OTHERS

Plastic surgeons in Korea have, for quite a while now, been thought of as some of the best surgeons in the world, and this is especially true for Asian patients. The extent of the advancements and innovation that has been put into plastic surgery in Korea, and that fact that people can have very open conversations about it means that it has become an environment where plastic surgery is seen as something completely normal. This understanding that comes from the Korean society has enabled both doctors and patients to achieve wonderful changes in a stress-free environment, and one that does not scrutinize them as some other countries in the world would. Korean plastic surgery has become a favorite for patients from other nationalities as well, but it is specifically Asian patients that can benefit from it the most.

Surgeons who are based in Korea, and especially those who have received their entire training there, are far more equipped with the knowledge to help patients from the same region than any other surgeons in the world. Cultural background is very important when it comes to plastic surgery because it dictates how the procedure will be carried out, since it is very important that the person’s appearance does not change from their own nationality. This isn’t set in stone of course, and there are some patients who really wish for a big physical change. However, many people really want to remain true to their heritage, so whatever surgery they decide to get must correlate to where they are from. This is more difficult to achieve for patients who live very far from their home country, because it will be difficult for them to find the right doctor for the job.

THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP THE PLANNING PROCESS

Regardless of how experienced your doctor is, your contribution as a patient can really help speed things along and provide the doctor with invaluable information about who you are and how your body has changed over the years. If you are opting for a younger look, for example, then you may want to bring in some old photographs of yourself from a period where you were happy with your appearance, because this will provide your doctor with a great reference point to start from. Additionally, do not ever lie to your doctor about your medical history as this could seriously have an effect on how your plastic surgery will turn out. Doctors are not judgmental of your past. Their sole purpose is to make you feel better and to give you the best possible advice to achieve a happy lifestyle. Be as involved in the planning process as you possibly can, and do not shy away from asking any questions that you may have. Good preparation comes from both sides, and although you will allow your doctor to make most of the technical decisions because of their expertise, you will quickly notice that doctor’s really appreciate a patient’s input as well, because it helps them plan the procedure more adequately, and to personalize it specifically for you. Always choose a doctor who knows what they are doing, but also one who will explain everything to you as well.

A Brief Introduction to Korean Plastic Surgery for Breast Implant Revision

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Breast Surgery

korean plastic surgery for breast implant revisionKorean plastic surgery for breast implant revision is also known as a ‘secondary breast surgery’. It is used as an additional surgical procedure following the original breast augmentation surgery that has already been done. Regardless of how detailed the initial surgery was, there is frequently a time when the patient asks for additional changes to be made. Changes can be made upon request from the patient, however, it is understandable that the smaller the number of surgeries the better.

What can you request from a Korean plastic surgery breast implant revision?

If you are dissatisfied with the end shape of your breasts after the initial surgery, you can request for an additional surgery to amend these changes. Depending on what your new wishes are, the new surgery could either completely change the look, shape and feel of your breasts or it can just make minor differences. It is important to note here that many doctors believe that secondary breast surgery is actually more difficult to do than initial surgery, which is why you must make sure to consult your doctor at all stages and to ask any questions that you may have. Whether you underwent breast enhancement or nipple augmentation in Korea, both cases will require a detailed second look at the problem in order to find the safest possible way to deal with the new issue.

How is the new procedure dealt with?

The important thing for a Korean plastic surgery for breast implant revision is that the new changes follow the style of the initial surgery. This is the only way to make sure that the new changes are natural-looking, and that the skin does not go through additional stress. If the new surgery is done by the same doctor that did the previous surgery, than it probably will not be difficult to accomplish. However, because most patients tend to change doctors if they are not satisfied with the initial procedure, the new doctor must first completely analyze the previous procedure. This will most frequently require a team of experts, including a plastic surgery specialist, a breast surgery specialist, a surgical specialist, a family practice specialist, and an anaesthesia pain medicine specialist. It is only after you look at the complexity of the operation that you realize how professional the team of doctors needs to be. Cosmetic surgery in Korea is advanced, precise, professional and widespread across the country. However, some surgeons are more specialized than others, so care must be taken to choose the right surgeon for your procedure from the very start. The pros and cons of breast implants must balance each other to give the right end result. There is no such thing as a perfect, flawless surgery. But that does not mean that it cannot be brought as close to perfection as possible. While changes can be made later on, it is in the best interest of the patient, the patient’s family and the doctor that the first procedure will be the right one.

How to Prevent Permanent Scarring in Korean Breast Enhancement

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Breast Surgery

korean breast enhancement

With rapid technological advancements and economic development, Southeast Asian developed nations such as Singapore and Malaysia, to name a few, have seen a surge in demand for cosmetic surgery. One may think that a procedure such as Korean breast enhancement is still taboo to the culture. But, this is no longer true; it is becoming one of the most popular in the world. For instance, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has stated a 55% increase from 2000 to 2006 in the United States.

Typically, the scarring that comes from Asian breast augmentation heals very well. Nonetheless, certain precautions should be undertaken to ensure a full and speedy recovery.

1. Prevention from the very beginning – by choosing the location for the incision such as under the breast, this will decrease visibility of the scarring.

2.  Keeping the incision taped for the first three weeks will lessen the tension off of the scar.

3. Apply a scar gel or cream such as ScarFade or ScarGuard

4. When sunbathing, be sure to slab on some sunscreen to prevent hyperpigmentation.

5. A scar revision may be necessary if a scar has widened, but generally, scarring improves over the course of 3 to 6 months.

Note:

It must be said, however, that there is a slight disadvantage for breast augmentation aka Augmentation Mammoplasty in Asian Women. There is a tendency for hypertrophic scars to form as the scar becomes temporarily hyper pigmented as does surrounding skin for a period of time. Hence, back to point 1 -- the location of incision should be taken into huge account.

That aside, having plastic surgery in Korea can be of a slight advantage to Asian women looking to get Asian breast augmentation. Why?

Because of how the bodies are build; in general, Asian women are short and slim, with a low BMI compared to Westerners. Usually sporting small areolas and large nipples, the majority of Asian women have B-sized cups.

The demand for breast augmentation in Asians is not as high as that of Westerners; by going under the knife with a surgeon from America that is not well-experienced with the Asian build -- this may cause some complications during and after surgery. For more information, be sure to check out what the experts recommend for Asian breast augmentation.

5 Things to Know about Adjustable Korean Breast Implants

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Breast Surgery

korean breast implants

If you’ve ever considered getting Asian breast augmentation but have no idea which size would look good on you – look no further, you might find your answer with an adjustable implant. If you haven’t the slightest clue what it is, read on!

What’s the Difference?

With an adjustable implant, a small port about half an inch in diameter is placed under the skin. If you’re afraid of getting too big a size on your first time, you can be rest assured – you can start out on one size, and if you change your mind, you can work your way up.

How is it done?

After a needle is inserted into the skin, saline solution is injected into the implant – with little to no pain involved. About six months after the operation, the ports are then removed.

Which to get, Silicone or Saline?

In general, there are two types of breast implants. Silicone implants will give a more natural appearance, but with younger folks, they seem to prefer the rounder, fuller-looking appearance that comes from saline implants. It all comes down to personal preference.

Will there be any scarring?

As with breast surgery in Korea, or in any other country will yield the same result – there will be some scarring involved and what the experts recommend for Asian breast augmentation is a careful placement of the incisions to minimize the appearance of scarring.

Are adjustable Korean breast implants for me?

Don’t know which size would look good on you right away? Then it might be for you! However, one thing to keep in mind is that with adjustable implants, they can only be further adjusted by 10% to 20% of their volume. So, if you chose to start off with a B cup, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be able to switch to a triple D afterwards. We recommend making an informed decision by reading up on the required before and after-care as well as other miscellaneous details, but that aside, go for your life!

What to Know Before Breast Surgery

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Breast Surgery

What to know before Augmenting your Breasts?

On Breast Surgery through Augmentation

What is Breast Augmentation? To simply put it, it is breast surgery used to enlarge and, or reconstruct one’s breasts through the use of breast implants.
With its fair share of controversy, one might want to adopt the stance that breast surgery is a purely personal affair. For the most part, if it puts no one else’s body at a risk but your own then surely it is no one else’s business but one’s own – especially when it comes to a woman’s breasts.
That said, appropriate emphasis must be put upon one very important thought; anyone seeking breast augmentation does it for themselves, anyone else’s opinion plays second fiddle.

What to know: Before and After the Procedure

Before After
There are two types of breast implants for your picking: they can be made of either silicone or saline. Externally, both are coated with Sillicone however their fillings differ.Filled with a semi-solid gel, Silicone implants have an advantage over Saline for a lesser risk of leakage. That said, there was a study on the effects of silicone implants that did rupture. Some people fancy Saline for it is said to feel more natural, similar to the fluids in the body. Note:  Other factors you might want to keep in mind; texture, size, shape and incision location for the implant. Right after surgery, to reduce inflammation and swelling, use an ice pack to soothe chest area but remember to keep the bandages on until your next visit to the surgeon.
Under anaesthesia, the surgery will take approximately 1-2 hours. Do expect and prepare yourself for the advent of some bruising. Also, chest, arm or back pains may occur – however, as the muscles around these areas stretches, they will slowly but surely alleviated with time. Scarring may take up to a year to fully diminish.
After surgery, avoid raising arms excessively and do wear a tight fitting top to support your chest. Give your body the time and rest to adjust to your new breasts;  right after surgery, normal activities may be pursued in a week’s time.

Is Breast Augmentation for you?

First and foremost, as it has been mentioned – these procedures are mostly appropriate when one does it for herself and with no one else in mind.
Having said that, every Asian woman seeking breast augmentation might want to know what the experts recommend for asian breast augmentation; dealing with the issue of their smaller frames which may give rise to the possibility for an unnatural, unbalanced look.

Finally, improving on one’s self-image is a courageous task, especially when there are risks and one’s reputation is involved; you’ll be damned if you do or damned if you don’t.
Nonetheless, safety is of utmost importance and where might one look for a professional, certified medical practitioner? Korean plastic surgery is well-regarded in the industry for its best practices, further emphasized by the fact that they are ranked first in the total number of procedures done in a year.
