6 Before and After Korean Eyes Surgery Pictures | Seoul TouchUp’s Favourites Of The Week

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Eyelid Surgery, Korean Plastic Surgery

These days, ask most people the question, “What does South Korea do best in the world?” and most of them will tell you that cosmetic surgery tops the list.

One of the most commonly requested cosmetic procedures in South Korea amongst the Asian crowd is double eyelid surgery.

Mostly An Asian Thing

Yeah, it is mostly an Asian thing. Partly, the importance of ptosis eye correction surgery to Asians owes its dues to the unkind and derogatory ideas associated to “Asian eyes”. Somehow, it has become somewhat common for typical Asian eyes to be associated with “looking half asleep” or even worse, mean-spirited people may take “one look at you” -- assume that you’re fresh off the boat – and then treat you accordingly.

It’s also a rather peculiar case because it may even hit close to home: it is a culturally valued asset. It seems to be the case that bigger eyes with a prominent crease is favoured, maybe, even by grandma.

Well, this week, we showcase some of the most well-done before and after Korean eye surgery pictures that will put grandma to shame.

Our Favorites of The Week

These pictures are simple – nothing too extravagant -- but also highlight the stark contrast in results that this single cosmetic procedure can produce.

Some of these after-images look as though they’re saying, “Who’s awake now, grandma?”

If you’re Asian, would you ever get surgery done on your eyes and just on your eyes alone? Usually, we’d hear plenty about someone who’s keen on getting Korean eyes surgery. But, are you somebody who is against it? If you are, we’d love to hear your thoughts even more so!

What is the Korean Double Eyelid Surgery?

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Eye Lid Surgery, Korean Eyelid Surgery, Korean Plastic Surgery

korean double eyelidNumerous individuals are willing to submit themselves to eye lift surgery and double eyelid surgery, the most popular Korean plastic surgery, so their eyes look more defined. The main difference between Eastern and Western eyes is that Eastern eyes lack the crease, which is otherwise known as the double eyelid. The effect of the Korean double eyelid surgery is a wider, more awake-looking set of eyes. In older patients, wrinkles are removed. Simply put, a crease is formed where there was lack of a double eyelid, which adds more depth to the eye.

What Happens During the Surgery?

During the procedure, the doctor makes tiny cuts through the eyelid’s natural fold. In some cases, the doctor cuts below the lower lashes on the bottom lid. Once the small incisions are made, the surgeon removes the excess fatty tissue and loose skin. After the surgery, the patient can go home if there were no complications. After 7 days, the patient needs to return to the clinic to have the stitches removed. Both eyes can be done on the same day, or they can be done separately; it’s up to the patient to decide.

Korean Double Eyelid Surgery: The Most Requested Procedure in South Korea

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Eye Lid Surgery, Korean Eyelid Surgery

beautiful korean double eyelid surgerySouth Korean women and Korean plastic surgery go hand in hand. In the past several years, there has been a growing phenomenon among Korean men and women artificially enhancing their looks. This, in turn, has led to the country's boom of cosmetic surgeries. The most requested and preferred procedure is the Korean Double Eyelid Surgery.

If you walk through the streets of Seoul, most women seem to have double eyelids. But in fact, only 1 in every 5 Korean females are born with a crease above the eyes. Natural Korean eyes are said to have single lids, also known as the mono-lid. This is due to the fact that most of these women undergo the knife as early as their high school years to have the eyelid surgery done. Even mothers encourage their teenage daughters to get the procedure when they are still young. Korean double eyelid surgery is so common and routine that most people don't even consider it as actual surgery. It has the equivalence of a new designer bag--they acquire it to impress and symbolize their social status.

Before and After Eyelid Surgery: What to Know and Expect

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Eyelid Surgery

eyelid surgeryEyelid surgery on Oriental eyes

Eyelid surgery is well-regarded to be one of the most often sought after cosmetic surgery procedure around the world.
Especially for people around Asia with oriental eyes – reshaping the unique Asian feature through double eyelid surgery is common; simply, to create double eyelids or to make existing double eyelids more prominent. That aside, aging skin with sagging eyelids may benefit from eyelid surgery; by the reduction of lower eyelid bagginess and removal of excess skin from the upper eyelid. For healthy people with realistic psychological expectations, eyelid surgery is for you.

Before and After Surgery

Before After
Eyelid surgery can enhance your appearance and help build your confidence. However, it may not result in your ideal look or alter your facial structure – set realistic psychological expectations and you will not be disappointed. Prepare the following items at your home:- Ice cubes-       Ice packs   -  Gauze pads   - Eye drops   - Clean   - towels   - Pain killersNote: Advil, Motrin, Naproxen, Aleve, and aspirin should not be used due to the increased risk of bleeding.
Your eyes will still age after the procedure; it is a natural and inevitable process. Be prepared to be home-bound, meaning to stay away from work and limit activities after surgery (try to refrain from raising your blood pressure) for days while your eyelids are healing.
There will be pain involved, mostly during the healing process so be mentally prepared to avoid shock and stress. Scars may still be visible during the healing process, however you can still head outdoors without feeling self-conscious by wearing make-up.

Are you ready for eyelid surgery?

By understanding what will be done in eyelid surgery, as well as what is to be expected – one is generally ready for the eyelid surgery procedure. However, one last thing must be mentioned; the single eyelid is a unique facial feature that is best understood by other Asians.
Also, countless of Korean high school students opt for plastic surgery as a graduation gift – plastic surgery for teens is a common occurrence in Korea and with good reason if not for their reputation. It is no surprise then that Korean Plastic Surgery is said to have one of the best practices for cosmetic surgery.
That said, the procedure itself will be relatively easier for an Asian surgeon to tinker and beautify. Knowing the real possibility for risks and permanent scarring in such a procedure, it is necessary to get it right the first time around.

Explore the Truths Behind Common Upper Eyelid Surgery Myths

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Eyelid Surgery

Upper Eyelid SurgeryUpper Eyelid Surgery

Redundant skin is an aging change that drives many to seek upper eyelid surgery for a more aesthetic appearance. In saying this there are instances where genetical factors come into play – there are cases where younger individuals, those having more skin laxity, appear tired and older looking.

Excessive upper eyelid skin and surplus fat can be easily remedied through a surgical procedure called upper blepharoplasty. Puffiness and bags on the other hand, are removed during a lower blepharoplasty procedure.

This article attempts to lay out the myths and facts surrounding upper eyelid surgery, thus enabling readers to seek the appropriate treatment when considering eyelid surgery.

Myth 1Upper eyelid surgery removes “crow’s feet”. Fact 1Untrue.

“Crow’s feet” are lines that form at the outside corner of the eyes. They come about as a result of repeated movement of the muscles surrounding the eyes and upper cheeks. Over time this repeated action intensifies into permanent lines. The upper blepharoplasty procedure removes excess skin and fats – resulting in tighten and firmed skin around the eyelids. Here, botox would be the better alternative to remove “Crow’s feet”.

Myth 2Upper eyelid surgery is a permanent procedure. Fact 2It is difficult to conclude simply because aging is a naturally occurring process. Whilst there is no guarantee to re-occurrence of “sagging” eyelids, the upper blepharoplasty technique is highly seen as a procedure that helps to prolong an individual’s youthful appearance.
Myth 3Upper eyelid surgery removes “hooding” of the upper eyelid and improve eyebrow positioning. Fact 3Untrue.

Upper eyelid surgery results in skin tightening. Over time eye brow tend to sag. In this instance an eyebrow lift is more appropriate.

Myth 4Upper eyelid surgery is only for the elderly. Fact 4Untrue.

Redundant skin is generally seen as a sign of aging but to some, it could be caused by genetics. In some instances, people have so much skin over the upper eyelids that they have difficulty seeing. Upper blepharoplasty surgery can remove this problem for patients of any age.

Myth 5Upper eyelid surgery gives a “startled” appearance. Fact 5The advancement in plastic surgery techniques has paved the way for a more natural appearance. Nowadays, patients are educated - sourcing information and discussing with their surgeons the expectations and limitations of a given surgical procedure.
Myth 6Upper eyelid surgery is for women only. Fact 6Untrue.

In today’s metrosexual male society, men of different cultures and occupational backgrounds have undergone eyelid surgery. Upper eyelid surgery for men results in a more healthy, fresh and masculine appearance.
