Become a fresh-faced beauty through Korean eye bag surgery

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

korean eye bag surgeryWe all know about Korean eyelid surgery, which is highly popular amongst plastic surgery enthusiasts in Asia! But what about Korean eye bag surgery? Nothing gives off a more dull appearance than dark under eye circles paired up with puffy eye bags. Who has not ever felt self-conscious because of these bad babies? On a really bad day, you might think to yourself that at best, you are given sympathy for carrying around those marks of sleep deprivation and stress – at worst, people find you unattractive.

Using a concealer and other such make-up or photoshop may rid the appearance of dark eye circles and eye bags. But what about removing them for good, without hiding these flaws away because there won’t be any such flaw?

Yes, simple home remedies do exist; many people use green tea to remove eye bags. However, for results to show up, it takes a lot of time and patience. So if you’re determined and diligent in your eye-care routine, go for it! For those who are impatient and want no part in such a hassle, Korean eye bag surgery is one such solution – to get rid of those pesky eye bags, once and for all! “But why the obsession?” some of you might say. What’s the big deal in looking more fresh-faced, does that really matter?

In a highly competitive society such as South Korea, plastic surgery and self esteem goes hand in hand. When an employer puts more weight in your physical appearance than your resume, you’ve got a problem. If someone went up to you and said, “I don’t care about your achievement, you look so tired and unwell!” To these people, plastic surgery is a symbol to show that they are the makers of their own reality – to show that they are just as entitled as anyone else in getting the opportunities by their own hands. In recent years, Korean plastic surgery statistics has shown that South Korea has topped the charts – being Asia’s hot spot for plastic surgery purposes.

Korean Big Eye Surgery Boom: Do Asians really want to look Caucasian?

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

korean big eye surgery

We all know that the “jock” or “preppy guy” stereotype is valued and deemed as the ideal male role model in Western society. Look at all the actors in Hollywood movies – they are often buff and muscular. In Asia, however, men and women alike would turn heads for the archetypal pretty boy, often duped the “Flower boy”. These men are easily identifiable for their flawless complexions, feminine facial features and lean physiques that are often clad in tight clothing. A small percentage of men are fortunate enough to be born with exceptionally good looks. For many other Asian men, though, they were dealt with different cards and so, countless have gotten plastic surgery to transform themselves into a “pretty boy”.

Some have interpreted this phenomenon to be a “Plastic surgery boom as Asians seek ‘western’ look”. Using our common sense, however, we can see that the claim is not entirely true. Asian society’s beauty standards are aligned with the pretty boy look while Western society values the archetypal macho man. While it is true that korean big eye surgery or better known as double eyelid surgery is a highly sought after procedure in Asia, this does not necessarily mean that Asians want to look Caucasian. Why can’t it be said that an Asian like any other person on the planet simply wants to look different, transforming their mono lids and at the same time – wanting to look out of this world? As it has been said by many a plastic surgery enthusiast, "Beauty is created, not defined."

One thing is for sure though, South Korea is indeed Asia’s hot spot for plastic surgery purposes – as reflected through Korean plastic surgery statistics. That said, Korean Plastic Surgery and their best practices are just one of the many things that South Koreans are well-known for.

Are cosmetic procedures a sensible investment?

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

 cosmetic procedures

Going under the knife can be a tedious process as plastic and cosmetic procedures can be costly and invasive. So why then, do many South Korean youth put themselves through a painful nip and tuck? Since the mid-2000s, the Korean Wave has spread across Asia where even the youth of neighbouring countries in Asia are now flocking to get their faces and bodies done.

With plastic surgery iphone apps now freely available on the World Wide Web, this takes cosmetic and plastic surgery to a whole new level. As technology advances further, would you be more inclined to consider altering your body – assuming that you could really, accurately visualize your ideal results through a swab and click of a button? Say, if it was possible – that’d be great! Who doesn't want a fast-forward button in life, except in this case specifically for plastic surgery? Until then, cosmetic and plastic surgery can be risky business. On one hand, you have so much to lose – your body and money, which is equally blood and sweat for many, is at stake. On the other hand, there is so much to gain as well.

For many in South Korea, they see very little that they have to lose in this situation. In a highly competitive society such as South Korea, looks are just as important as aptitude or talent. They are strongly believed to be a stepping stone for opportunities for success. For them, it is a sensible investment for them as they live in an image-driven society where to survive is to compete. Throughout the world, this phenomenon has spread for different reasons – some countries are not that competitive while others are somewhat similar to South Korea. With all that said, Korean Plastic Surgery has been highly sought after for their board-certified plastic surgeons – reflecting their best practices. So, let’s assume for your safety and well-being, you only had eyes for experienced and certified surgeons!

Is plastic and cosmetic surgery a sensible investment to you? Is it seen as a sensible investment to people from where you live?  Let’s hear your perspective!

The Small Face Obsession: Is it just for Vanity?

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

small face

Right now, a small face, large eyes and a tiny button nose is the ideal standard of beauty in South Korea. For foreigners, this obsession with small faces may seem to be mind-boggling – why do people proceed with a highly invasive procedure that comes with risks that include facial numbness to nerve damage? Who else wants double jaw surgery? Is it really worth the possible implications to engage in such risky behavior? Now, if these foreigners were Asian – they might have a greater idea on why numerous people and especially Asians around the world have opted for Korean Plastic Surgery.

Renowned for their board-certified plastic surgeons and best practices, South Korea is highly sought after for plastic surgery purposes. In our age of globalization, the western and eastern cultures may be somewhat meshed and Asian youths around the world – especially in a highly competitive society in South Korea will tell you exactly why transforming one’s physique is a significant “ritual”. Simply, it reassures individuals that they are in control, that if a job application was rejected – it wasn’t because of their looks. It wasn’t because of some factor that was out of their control. No one likes feeling helpless, right? For people holding onto such a belief, plastic surgery is not just for vanity – it is essentially, an opportunity to create another identity and to get “it” by your hands. By “it” I mean the opportunities that someone strongly believes that could be theirs if it wasn’t for some out-of-reach or in-born factor.

As seen in portraits of extreme plastic surgery, the question of “Is beauty defined or created” arises. What do we mean by beauty anyway? Do we mean a beautiful-looking person or a beautiful life? If you were born with a physical deformity and shunned by society – wouldn’t surgery make sense? If you were tormented by judgments on your physical deformity – that really does affect your emotional and so, psychological well-being. What if your entire society revolved around the notion that your looks aren’t good enough – but they could be. That is to say that you weren’t good enough in society’s eyes, but you could be? This message could be everywhere, on posters, train stations and in the streets! When so many people you know have undergone plastic surgery as well, would you go for it too or stick to your individuality? What if your individuality wasn’t valued, what if no one took you seriously?

What everybody ought to know about Plastic Surgery Trends

Written by Chelsea Kim. Posted in Korean Plastic Surgery

surgery trends

Across the world, there has been a glaringly obvious difference between the Eastern and Western culture’s perception of what constitutes as ideal beauty - even more so when plastic surgery is involved. While sexiness is a trait highly sought after in Los Angeles, America, in Korea – a feminine and child-like appearance is much more prevalent. In recent times, there has been a claim that goes along the lines of, “Korean women want to appear more like their Western counterparts.” However, how true is this statement, really?

Despite the fact that double eyelid surgery is considered a highly emphasized procedure for many in Asia, Caucasians may not even realize what a double eyelid is! This is a true story; in fact, I have questioned a number of my Caucasian friends who responded to my question with only but a blank stare. “What is the Korean Double Eyelid Surgery?” they would ask. I would then proceed to tell them in a dead-pan fashion that many of Asian descent decide to painfully tear their eyelids through surgical means in order to achieve what so many Westerners deem ordinary.

That said, there has been peculiar trends going on lately – from women opting for surgery to get Michelle Obama’s arms to the supposedly dangerous new Korean Plastic Surgery fad, double jaw surgery. Despite a desirable smaller and pointier looking jaw that comes with the procedure, risks range from facial numbness and onto the extreme end of nerve damage. What everybody ought to know about Double Jaw Surgery is that it comes with potentially life-threatening risks such as nerve damage – that takes a whole lot of risk-taking and courage to go with such a decision. It might make sense for someone with a deformed jaw-line to op for such a surgery, what have they got to lose, right? But if you had a perfectly functional although ordinary-looking facial structure – would you go for it? Sometimes, it may indeed be tempting to follow plastic surgery trends! But how far is going too far? I mean, look at it this way - what if Michelle Obama’s arm just does not look good with your overall appearance? It’s rather similar to picking out clothes that look good on you, pick procedures that may give you your own look.

It may be argued that a person’s self-image greatly affects his or her emotional well-being - and is just as significant as a physically deformed individual’s woes. While there certainly are other alternatives for some situations such as baldness where a wig can be used as a cheaper and less threatening solution – once alternative solutions have been exhausted, opting for plastic surgery does make sense. In some parts of the world, Korea is seen as a country with a plastic surgery obsession while in many parts of Asia – it is considered as the number one hotspot for plastic surgery purposes. It would really depend on whether you are for or against plastic surgery! That said, Korean plastic surgery and its best practices are often sought after in all of Asia, and this fact is reflected by easily found statistics on the World Wide Web!
