1.What is it?
Labiaplasty or cosmetic labia reduction surgery is rapidly emerging as one of the most popular female genital surgeries for sexually active adults. The purpose of the labiaplasty surgery is to reshape or reduce the size of the labia minora (lower lips), which are the folds found in the entrance of the vulva.
2.Who needs it?
The procedure of labiaplasty is ideal for women who have longer, thicker or wider labia than normal. Long and drooping labia can be a source of discomfort and can make any woman self-conscious, especially when she’s wearing sexy clothes. It can also be a distraction during sexual intercourse and can even have an adverse affect on otherwise healthy sexual relationships. Some of the factors that can cause unusually shaped labia are multiple natural childbirths, excessive sexual activity or masturbation and other genetic variants to which a woman may be predisposed.
Labiaplasty is a safe and simple procedure. Modern laser technology is used to reduce the size of the labia and to remove the excess tissue. New surgical techniques have made it possible for doctors to maintain the labia’s normal color and contour, as well.
